Because the average mother’s love is very strong, protective and much more, these qualities have given birth to an old saying that a “mother’s love is like Jesus’ love or an unconditional love”. Yes, in some ways that statement may be similar but far from true. A mother’s love, as wonderful, beautiful, sweet and kind as it is, is still “Human Love,” which comes with conditions from an imperfect, sometimes controlling, and unpredictable being. A being that was born with a selfish sin nature. Our Lord Jesus’ love is pure, perfect, unchanging, unlimited and unconditional. However, being in union with Christ, a mother could love her children with the unconditional love forgiveness and restoring love with the Holy Spirit as her guide through faith.
Because of this imperfect nature, apart from God’s guidance sometimes very evil, sad and bad things have happened. There have been cases where some mothers have abandoned, neglected or even killed their children because Jesus was not their guidance or love source. Having Jesus as your provider gives a promise that says in His word in Psalm 27:10: TLB: for if my father and mother should abandon me, you would welcome and comfort me. Also in Isaiah 41:10 NKJV: Fear not, for I am with you, Be not dismayed, for I am your God, I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. These Godly promises: “That I will never leave thee or forsake thee” and “When your mother or father forsake you, I will be there for you” comes from a divine source that is based not on feelings but on the essences of His character and the true nature of God who is the same today, yesterday and forever”
Agreeing that the heart and essence of a mother’s love are basically good I can still say without hesitation that there is another love far greater, a love that is not of this world, a love that only Jesus can give through His unconditional love and grace that no human can fake or erase. I’m talking about the unmatched, unconditional love of the “Living Word”. I’m talking about the cleansing, unselfish, divine, “no strings attached love “that only comes from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
His unconditional love is a one-of-a-kind love. Bold yet meek, a compassionate love that stands alone, in a class all of its own. It is a love that nothing can ever compete with or truly mirror. It is an amazing living and enduring protective spiritual womb that shields and protects all of His own from harm and danger, with virtues and qualities of true agape love. It is an all-consuming, all restoring, forgiving, healing, graceful, merciful love that flows like an invisible stream in the hearts of all those who believe.
This unconditional love is far greater than any mother’s love, it is in a class all by its self, for it empowered Jesus to the cross to die for each one of us. As our Lord, Savior and friend, He willingly took the lash and the torture for all of our sins to His physical end so that all who would believe in Him would drink again and again from the cup of His bittersweet unconditional love and eat the bread of His broken battered body in remembrance of Him as we would gain the abundant life here and now and for all eternity the sweet aftermath of His sacrifice and His unconditional love for you and for me.
Scripture to stand on:
I Corinthians 13:4-8 ESV:
4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;[a] 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.
Supportive Poem:
Taken from my 1998 Self published Book of Poems: “God Made Me Beautiful From the Inside Out”
God Is Always There
Like a shield, He protects me, like a lamp
He lights my path
Like every family member, He is special in His class.
More than a mother and a Father, He is to me.
He leads and guides me and comforts me too.
His strong arm always present to break my fall,
whenever life’s unpredictable and mishaps beset me.
God is always there, never loud but always true
in His still soft voice to remind me He’ll see me
through so no matter what the day holds
God holds tomorrow and to Him I behold.
Beloved, If you want to develop a personal relationship with this Jesus or rededicate your life to Him, please read and embrace the scripture below, then repeat the brief prayer under the scripture
Scripture: Romans 10:9-10 KJV:
- That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shall be saved.
- For with the heart, man believeth unto righteousness; with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.
Brief prayer:
Lord Jesus, I believe that you died on the cross for my sins and was raised from the dead. I now repent of my sins and ask that you come into my life and save me, creating the vessel you desire for me to be in Jesus’s name, Amen!
