Greetings Beloved, “Your Word”, is an on time, thought provoking, confronting subject for today. Because there are too many “loose lips” out there. They are People who seemingly refuse to not think before they speak. These People having no restrain on what comes out of their mouth or to whom it is being said to and for what reason. These folks are too eager to volunteer and promise to do various very important, time sensitive, costly things without ever thinking twice about the cost or how they are going to make their promises come true. Especially when they were not even asked to help in the first place.

Never forget, your word reflects who you are. Your word is you. If your word is not trust worthy neither are you. Not keeping your word can cost you a lot. It can cost loss of respect, relationships, trust and lots more. When you give your word, it should have a “yes and Amen” meaning. A solid done deal meaning. Bottom line, your word should be a reflection of your character.

But with steadfast assurance, many folks find themselves in situations where-in either they had no intentions of following through, or didn’t think it through and suddenly they are in the middle of a “drowning, quick sand situation”, both themselves and the person or persons to whom they had promised that they could handle the issue whatever the agreed upon situation or issue was.

Friend things have changed tremendously from just a few decades ago. Wherein according to books and historians; A person’s word was viewed in the same light and strength as a legitimate contract. Today, not so, Folks will tell you in a “heart beat” “to get it in writing”, because people’s words don’t carry the same assurance that it used to.

A person’s “word” regardless of what was said speaks volumes and they either tarnish or shines one’s character reflecting the essence of who they really are. Their integrity and how they are able to function in life, even their mental ability and stability. Therefore, beloved as the Bible so vividly puts it in James 1:19 ESV: “Know this, my beloved brother: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger”

Therefore, please remember and take this advice for everyone’s sake never, ever make promises that you cannot keep. Your “word”, your character will be hanging in the balance.

Supportive Poem:

Keep Your Word

by Carl Joseph Roberts

If you can’t keep your word
And show up as you planned
Don’t think that when you do show up
We should understand

Remember who the boss is
It’s the one who pays the bill
So keep your word and show on time
Or we’ll find someone who will

If you can’t be there when you say
No show and drop the ball
Don’t think that you can then complain
When someone else is called

It may not seem a big thing
With the loss of just one call
Until one day you realize
You have no work at all

If you can’t keep your word
And show up as you planned
Don’t think that when you do show up
We should understand

Keep Your Word
