In 1965 Jackie Deshannon came out with a massive hit that was written by Burt Bacharach entitled; “What the world needs now”.
The chorus of that song goes like this:
“What the world needs now is love sweet love it’s the only thing that there’s just too little of.”
What the world needs now is love, sweet love, no not just for some, but for everyone. Beloved, this is the way Jesus loves. He loves all of us, saint and sinner alike. We don’t have to do anything to earn his love or to lose it. Because he loves us unconditionally. That is the way he wants us to be able to love others.
No matter how difficult, imperfect or how low or deep in sin one may have sunk. God is able to extend grace, understanding, love and forgiveness and he wants us to do likewise.
Beloved, I wonder if the singer and the writer of that song knew or was reflecting on the fact that the song was mirroring one of the highest forms of love and that is; the “agape” love. This kind of love is humble, kind, unconditional, selfless, forgiving and overlooking offenses and wrong doings rather than putting them out for all to see.
The kind of love that is spoken of in 1st peter 4:8 which says, “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins”. Beloved, this is “divine love”. The kind of love that only a heart that has been pricked by the Savior himself and is able to feel and thus able to give the God kind of love that empowers you to give grace and mercy instead of unforgiveness, hatred, bitterness and malice.
Life in this dark, cold world could be a beautiful dream if we could only love one another as God desires and commands us to do. Love is truly what we need.
Happy Valentine’s Day

Supporting Scriptures:
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 KJV
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

Lord Jesus, I believe that you died on the cross for my sins and was raised from the dead. I now repent of my sins and ask that you come into my life and save me, creating the vessel you desire for me to be in Jesus’s name, Amen!
